What to expect from the 2018 World Poker Series

This will be the 49th edition of the WSOP, which debuted in 1970 when Nick Dandolos and Benny Binion came up with the idea. Neither could predict the progress and growth of the tournament. In 1982, every game had around 1,200 participants. Last year, the WSOP set a record with more than 120,000 participants from more than 100 countries. Even the number of games grew fast. In 1988, there were only 12 games, but in 2018, there will be 78 games.

Big Blind Anteaters: Eight events in the WSOP will use this format to speed up the game. So, instead of each player anteater in every hand, only the player in the big blind will anteater. In this format, the anteater will be like every tournament and every level of big blind where the anteater is used.
Shotclock: Another way WSOP is attempting to speed up the game is to use Shotclock in a three-person event for the first time. The three events that will use Shotclock are Event #5: $100,000 Unlimited Holdham High Roller, Event #77: $50,000 Unlimited High Roller, and Event #78: One Drop Big One 1,000,000 Unlimited Holdham.
