!All of us for climate-neutral cafeterias in Hamburg!
The climate crisis and its social, ecological and economic consequences and effects are more topical than ever. Enormous amounts of greenhouse gas emissions are generated worldwide, especially through our food. But we all have a significant influence on that with our choice of food.
Therefore the Studierendenwerk (STW) has to admit its responsibility as the operator of the refectories of Hamburg's universities and colleges! The opening of the first vegetarian/vegan canteen “Blattwerk” is an important step but it is not enough.
That is why we demand:
-the achievement of climate neutrality of the refectories in Hamburg until 2025 
-the expansion of vegetarian and vegan dishes to 96% percent of the menu
-limiting meat and fish dishes to 4% percent of the menu 
-plant-based milk alternatives at all locations
-the complete CO₂ accounting of the operation 
-the calculation and visualization of CO₂ equivalents for each dish, including price adjustments so that climate-friendly dishes become more affordable
-more regionality and seasonality in the selection of ingredients
-increased student involvement through low-threshold feedback opportunities.
-offering different portion sizes to avoid food waste
-the expansion of organic and fair trade certified products.
All this should not be implemented at the expense of the students, which is why there should be no general price increase for the dishes!
These and other demands have been developed as part of a nationwide project for CO₂ avoidance called "Mensarevolution" and are accordingly supported by numerous students from various universities and colleges throughout Germany.
