Petition is addressed to: Bundesinstitut für Arzneimittel und Medizinprodukte (BfArM)
We are at a crucial juncture regarding the future of kratom in Germany. The German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) is currently considering a ban on this natural substance, following Belgium's recent prohibition. This potential decision could have far-reaching consequences, and we need your support to ensure a thoughtful, informed approach to kratom regulation.
Why This Issue Is Important:
- Public Health: An estimated 1.5 million people in Germany use kratom as an alternative to conventional medications. A ban could lead some to seek less safe alternatives.
- Scientific Research: Prohibiting kratom could hinder ongoing research into its potential as a safer alternative to opioids.
- Personal Freedom: This decision touches on our right to make informed choices about our health and well-being.
- European Precedent: Germany's decision could influence policy across the European Union.
What You Can Do:
- Sign the Petition: Add your name to show support for maintaining access to kratom.
- Share Your Experience: If you use kratom, consider writing to BfArM and your local representatives about your personal experiences.
- Spread Awareness: Inform others about this issue and the potential impacts of a kratom ban.
- Stay Informed: Follow updates on this issue and be prepared to take further action if needed.
Reason
A Broader Context:
For over a century, natural health alternatives have faced increasing restrictions, often under the guise of consumer protection. In contrast, the United States passed the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) in 1994, protecting access to many natural health products. This was achieved through informed civic engagement – the same approach we're calling for now.
Your Voice Matters:
Decision-makers need to hear from people like you. Your experiences and insights can help ensure that any decisions about kratom are based on a full understanding of its impact on users and society.
Take Action Today:
While there's no immediate deadline, it's important to make our voices heard now, while the decision is still under consideration. By acting promptly, we can contribute to a more informed, balanced approach to kratom regulation in Germany and potentially across Europe.
Sign this petition to show your support for preserving access to kratom and other natural alternatives. Together, we can protect the right to make informed decisions about our health.

Why people sign
I believe no natural plants should ever be banned by human law. Humans making decisions to ban a creation of mother nature is arrogant and absurd.
Individuals have the right to choose which plants they choose to use and consume.
Scientists should have the freedom to study all of nature's creations for new and innovative treatment potential.
Kratom is a beneficial medicine that has improved my quality of life, helping with my depression and anxiety where pharmaceuticals fail to do so.
I am a woman with AuDHD and use kratom medically. I have gone to a psychiatrist and tried all types of regular medication but everything makes me break out, sweat and have panic attacks. Kratom is the only type of medication that doesn't make me feel sick. Instead it makes me feel productive and motivated.
It helps me staying away from heavy drugs. Also, it helped my addiction and keeps helping me on sorting out things through the day when used.
